Shelby King Cobra

When Carroll Shelby took the Cooper Monaco and worked his American V8 Magic on it like he had done before with the original Cobra the King Cobra was born. Powered by a 289 V8 with four Weber carburetors pushing out 400hp. The car was built for speed with a 5-speed manual transaxle, 4-wheel disc brakes and 4-wheel independent suspension with coilovers. Two Cooper-Monaco Shelbys purchased by Shelby American for the 1963 Fall Series, the King Cobra was an important step in the Ford GT40 development program and is pretty amazing to see in person.
