eBay Watch: 1948 Cisitalia-Fiat Special

TGR Staff

Perhaps it is the Economy, or just Santa working his magic but eBay is awash with rare cars this month. Up for Auction is this 1948 Fiat Cisitalia that would look great in my garage, and for the low sum of just $132,000, you can get a real Italian exotic, instead of an Audi in Lamborghini clothing. Make a real statement when you pull up to the valet...

Check out the eBay Description and the Photos below:

Little is known about this Cisitalia- Fiat Special. It is fitted with the typical to the period Fiat 1100 motor. It has a Cisitalia chassis tag which appears original to its tubular chassis. It is beautifully constructed and well sorted. We are told that it was offered for sale in the early 1990s by a Florida dealer. Another story is that a firm called Mille Miglia, formerly located in Beverly Hills offered this car about the same exact time. Yet another story is that it was sold at a Rick Cole Monterey Wharf sale in or about 1990. One person that has seen the car since we acquired it, says he saw the car in Europe in the early to mid-1980s. We have been told that it was raced in at least one of the Retro Mille Miglia events, in Italy, but no proof has been established. More recently, the car was imported from Japan.

It is turn-key. It is fitted with Simpson racing seat belts. It features alloy coachwork. All of the instruments are period correct and functional. It is obvious, upon close inspection, that this was built as a race car and not converted from a production street model. It is not something that was constructed in recent times. It is alloy. It is in superb restored order and should judge quite high in the points if shown. We seek help in solving the "mystery" behind this vehicle. Since we do not have solid information available for this vehicle it is SOLD STRICTLY AS-IS with no guarantee as to condition or merchantability express or implied. We invite serious buyers to come and look at the car in person. It is located in a private museum in Lynchburg, Virginia. We invite any genuine information offered about this specific vehicle.

If you know this car, please contact us. Since we are light on the real story behind this fascinating little racer, the reserve is quite modest. It will not be divulged, however - so don't ask. It is a bit lower than the BUY IT NOW. This is very possibly the buy of the year for eBay. It is fantastic! This item is being sold as-is. All sales are final.
