New Porsche Convertible

We first started to hear rumors that Porsche was considering a convertible version of the Panamera back in October, we expected a two door Panamere. However, it seems that Porsche has another idea. Patent drawings that recently surfaced online indicate that not only is the car under consideration, but it is a four door convertible.

While many automakers have released concept four door drop tops, the engineering required to keep the body stiff is difficult and costly. According to Autocar engineers were forced to substantially stiffen the floorpan and bulkheads, as well as the A-pillars. The car looks like it will receive a traditional 911 style cloth top that will give the car some trunk space. It will be interesting to see if it makes it into production.
