eBay Motors BMW 1 Series Carbon Fiber Spoiler

Thank you to eBay Motors for sponsoring this post and helping me find the perfect carbon fiber spoiler This post was written by me through an activation with eBay and Hire Influence. Although I received compensation for participating in the campaign, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you have followed along on any of our project cars in the past you know we love building cars, from basic bolt-on parts to fully custom built SEMA show cars, nothing stays stock around here for too long. But like everyone we have to search out the best deals so we can keep our projects on budget and actually get them finished.

Shopping around for the best value for parts for a project car can be a hassle, especially when you are building a unique car or truck. Personally, I don’t have time to call around to see if parts are in stock, and browsing dozens of websites is time-consuming and you never really know what you are going to get. Local parts shops never have anything in stock and most of the time the guy behind the counter doesn’t know about your specific vehicle. This is why I use eBay Motors to buy and sell automotive parts and accessories, I can shop from the top vendors in the industry all-in-one place, plus I can see their feedback before making my purchasing decision.

So when it came time to make the first modification to my daily driver, I turned to eBay to find the perfect carbon fiber rear wing. It was easy I simply went to eBay Motors, selected the make, model, and year of my car and then searched by keywords “Carbon Fiber Spoiler” and in seconds I had several styles to choose from ranging from $130-$160. The one I ordered was $140 and shipping was included, so I felt it was a good deal and the seller had a 100% feedback rating.

Ordering was just one click and once my payment was processed I received confirmation that my order would arrive in 3-5 business days. But just two days later my new spoiler had arrived in a nice package and ready to install. The part was very good quality and the carbon fiber looked excellent. This being a fairly straight forward install, the part didn’t come with instructions, but it did include the 3M Tape to install the lip spoiler to the deck lid of my BMW.

Installation preparation was simple, wash and remove all wax from the section of the trunk where the spoiler would be attached using the 3M tape. After washing use some rubbing alcohol to make sure the surface is completely free of wax and car wash residue. After cutting all of the tape to fit and attaching it to the underside of the spoiler it was time to carefully remove the protective red backing and line up the spoiler.

You really only get one chance to install the spoiler using the 3M tape once it is stuck you cannot remove it and reuse it. So after double and triple checking the alignment we placed the spoiler down and applied pressure along the edges to make sure the tape was attaching to the deck lid. Once in place blue painter’s tape was placed across the spoiler to keep even pressure on the spoiler until the adhesive on the spoiler had time to set.

About an hour later the painter’s tape was removed and the BMW had a much more aggressive and sporty look with its clear coated carbon fiber rear lip spoiler. The fit and finish of the part was great and I love how it made such a big improvement on the appearance of the car.
While I had planned on keeping my daily driver stock, I have found myself already back on eBay Motors searching for the next modification I am going to make to the car. I am thinking about a carbon fiber front grill, mirrors, and I think I need to make some suspension modifications and maybe even some new wheels.

That is the awesome thing about a site like eBay Motors; I can literally search thousands of parts from top vendors around the world and even see pre-owned parts for sale from enthusiasts all in one place. In fact, 81% of items on eBay are new and 88% of the items sold on eBay can be purchased with the buy it now feature. Many times when I am planning a new project I will add items to my watch list to create a better visualization of what is going to be going into the build.

eBay Motors makes buying, building, and enjoying modifying your car easier than ever, plus since everything gets shipped directly to me, I have more time to spend enjoying my cars.
