The Flying Scotsman by Dunhill

When dunhill –leading British menswear luxury brand – first laid plans to enjoy the ultimate Flying Scotsman Rally experience, there was only one man they could turn to for the job.
Supported by dunhill, The Flying Scotsman Rally is Britain’s premier vintage car rally that comprises three days of open-road motoring against the most picturesque backdrops in the north of the UK. And William Medcalf has one of the greatest competitive histories at the event.

A back-to-back champion in 2015 and 2016 and one of the original drivers from
the first running of the event, Medcalf knows how to navigate the spectacular Scottish roads better than anyone – making him the perfect candidate to star in dunhill’s stunning video.
The video sees Medcalf hop behind the wheel of his 1929 Bentley 4½ Litre in the company of Gentleman’s Journal journalist Hugh Francis Anderson and demonstrate his remarkable driving prowess on the most breath-taking roads.
When it comes to vintage Bentley maintenance, rally preparation and, indeed, driving, Medcalf is the very first name out of the hat, and his unrivalled ability behind the wheel of a near-90-year-old Bentley makes for fantastic viewing in dunhill’s video.

You can watch Medcalf in action on the home page of www.dunhill.com/gb. (But since if you move at all on their site the restarts the video I have embedded it below.

dunhill London has had a long and prosperous relationship with the Bentley brand, providing a number of products for its cars and drivers over the years.
When Alfred Dunhill first took over his father’s saddlery business in 1893, he converted it into Dunhill’s Motories and vowed to provide “everything for the car but the motor”.
William Medcalf Vintage Bentley’s position as the world’s leading vintage Bentley specialist, then, means it’s had endless dealings with dunhill and maintained its products to uphold model’s authenticity.
William Medcalf said: “The Flying Scotsman Rally is an event I love and know very, very well, and sharing it with both dunhill and Gentleman’s Journal was, indeed, a pleasure. Pushing a vintage Bentley to the limit is what the event is all about, so being chosen to demonstrate that for a brand of dunhill’s stature was an honor. The video dunhill has put together is superb; it captures the brilliance of the event and the car perfectly and I hope the world enjoys it.”
