Interview with Actor & Model Sergio Delavicci

by Michael Satterfield

In this interview I sit down with Sergio Delavicci, an actor known for his role in John Wick 3, The Post, Creed 2, You Were Never Really Here and TV shows such as Quantico, Power, Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary, Blacklist and many more. In addition to acting, Delavicci is also an internationally published model, motivational speaker, humanitarian, philanthropist, and professional athlete.

Michael Satterfield: I think one of the first questions everyone wants to know from models and actors is, how did you get your start? Was it a life long dream you worked towards? Or was there a moment when an opportunity presented itself and you jumped in?

Sergio Delavicci: Although modeling and acting are two different professions they fall under the same category which is entertainment. These two professions were not necessarily my life-long dream but I knew that I wanted to be a model or an actor when I was still a kid. However, once the opportunity presented itself I saw the green light.

Michael Satterfield: What is it like going from smaller roles to working with an actor like Keanu Reeves on a film as big as John Wick 3?

Sergio Delavicci: To be honest every role that I book, to me is a big role. However working alongside such a seasoned, knowledgeable, iconic actor, and fantastic human being such as Keanu Reeves it was a dream come true.

Michael Satterfield: I know before your role in John Wick you were cast as a soldier did you have to do any special training to play these parts?

Sergio Delavicci: Before my role in John Wick 3, I was cast as a soldier in a movie called “The Post,” alongside Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. My army experience from the past definitely came in handy. However, I did have special training for that particular role in the movie.

Michael Satterfield: What’s the biggest challenge about taking on these roles?

Sergio Delavicci: The biggest challenge about taking on these roles is the fact that you have to deliver 100% authenticity and bring life to the character. Right now in my career, I’m at a comfort level where it’s no longer a challenge but it’s actually very exciting and interesting.

Michael Satterfield: You have some projects in the works, can you tell us about them and what kind of role you will be playing?

Sergio Delavicci: I do actually have a few projects in the works, so stay tuned.

Michael Satterfield: What is the role you have always wanted to play and why?

Sergio Delavicci: I’ve always wanted to play a superhero who saves a woman from harm and danger. The reason being is that I’ve saved 3 women from domestic violence in real life.

Michael Satterfield: Shifting gears to your modeling career, how would you describe your personal style?

Sergio Delavicci: My personal style is masculine, original, high fashion, mixed with street style.

Michael Satterfield: You’ve walked in the top fashion shows around the world, what’s your most memorable show?

Sergio Delavicci: At this point, I’ve done over 1,200 fashion shows throughout a 6 year period. It’s hard to say what was my most memorable. I’m very grateful and appreciative of all of them. Also, I love the energy from the crowd every time I walk the runway.

Michael Satterfield: What style tips have you learned along the way?

Sergio Delavicci: Along the way, I’ve learned to be versatile and open-minded to different forms of style and fashion.

Michael Satterfield: What is the wildest outfit you have had to walk the runway in?

Sergio Delavicci: The wildest outfit that I have ever had to walk in was probably a kilt with feathered straps over my shoulders. Another one would be a gladiator looking outfit which wasn’t so bad.

Michael Satterfield: Many of your fashion looks are polished and high end, but the acting roles you are cast for seems to be mostly the gangster type characters. Why do you think these two industries cast you so differently?

Sergio Delavicci: As I have mentioned before modeling and acting are 2 different professions in the world of entertainment. There’s a saying that goes. “Models can’t act and actors can’t model,” I would consider myself as someone who is capable of doing both because of my versatility, experience, and a strong passion for what I do.

Michael Satterfield: Tell me about the Real Men Read Initiative and how you are involved?

Sergio Delavicci: We as men have to set a good example for young kids especially boys. This new generation is mirroring us. I use my platform as a public figure to motivate, inspire, uplift, and be involved in my community. However, the Real Men Read Initiative promotes reading, knowledge, and education in schools which I’m heavily involved in.

Michael Satterfield: Where is the best place for people to follow you?

Sergio Delavicci: On Instagram @ruffryder_84 or Facebook @Gio Delavicci.
